SCRANTON — Police didn’t have much trouble nabbing a man wanted for aggravated assault in Scranton. According to court papers, officers attempted to arrest Justin Thompson, 29, of Scranton, on Sunday at his girlfriend’s apartment on Bryn Mawr Street.  Thompson was wanted on aggravated assault charges from back in September. Police: Mother Left Baby Home Alone While She Went Shopping

DUNMORE — A mother is facing child endangerment charges in Lackawanna County. Police say Karen Robbins, 35, of Dunmore, left a 4-month-old baby alone Saturday for an hour and a half while she went shopping. At first, Robbins told police her friend was watching the child. Officers say she later admitted leaving the baby home alone. Robbins has been charged with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

SCRANTON — A mother faces child endangerment charges after police in Scranton say she failed to take her infant daughter to the hospital after the girl was badly burned. Investigators say Jasmin Rodgers, 21, of Scranton was bathing the 4-month-old girl when she accidentally turned on the hot water. WILKES-BARRE — A mother is facing child endangerment charges in Luzerne County. Officers were called to a home on Caffery Street in Wilkes-Barre. Police say they found Tiffany Clark, 39, to be under the influence around noon Sunday. They say her home was covered in filth. Clark’s child had been living in the home with her.

Trio Handed Prison Sentences for Child Abuse

EAST STROUDSBURG — A couple convicted of child abuse in the Poconos has been sentenced to prison. Authorities say Rafael Ray Olivo, 36, and his wife, Christina Nazario, 36, both of East Stroudsburg, physically, emotionally, and verbally abused three children for years. The two were found guilty of child endangerment back in February. On Tuesday, a judge sentenced Olivo to at least six years in prison and Nazario to at least five years. DUNMORE — A man is accused of cutting a four-inch gash into a child’s back in Lackawanna County. Police charged James Forgione, 36, of Dunmore, with felony charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. Last week, police arrested Sherrise Zangardi of Dunmore for failing to get her 2-year-old daughter medical attention for the gash. Man Accused of Assaulting Woman, Infant

MAHONING TOWNSHIP — A man is accused of assaulting a woman and a five-month-old baby in Carbon County. Police say David Ackley, 27, of Mahoning Township is charged with child endangerment and assault after officers were called to his home near Lehighton over the weekend. Ackley is locked up on $5,000 bail.

Father Charged with Child Endangerment

SCRANTON — A man is facing charges after his infant son was allegedly neglected. Police say Gerard Nealon, 33, of Scranton, along with the boy’s mother, Rebecca Palukonis, 35, are charged with endangering the welfare of a child after the boy was found malnourished with liver and kidney damage. The boy is being treated at a facility in the Lehigh Valley.
