Scranton Chimney Contractor Charged with Fraud

LACKAWANNA COUNTY — A chimney contractor in Lackawanna County is facing felony charges, accused of ripping off an elderly couple. Investigators say Daniel Brennan of Scranton charged the couple for fireplace repairs that he never did. Daniel Brennan, 52, is now facing felony fraud charges. He’s accused of bilking an elderly couple in Clarks Summit out of $1,400. Winter Storm Slams Lackawanna and Wyoming Counties

LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Conditions on Tuesday were too much even for a PennDOT truck, stuck along the side of Interstate 81 in Lackawanna County. Clarks Summit Police to Patrol Clarks Green

CLARKS GREEN — Police protection will change in the new year for a borough in Lackawanna County. Clarks Green borough council voted Wednesday night to contract Clarks Summit police for five years. South Abington Township’s police department has patrolled Clarks Green since 1984. Starting in January, Clarks Summit police will take over. We’re told the change will save Clarks Green about $400,000.

Lackawanna County Man Bikes Across USA

CLARKS SUMMIT — A man from Lackawanna County recently biked over 2,000 miles from the west coast back east. Nick Basalyga of Clarks Summit wrapped up his cross country trip this week. He started in San Francisco back in July and ended in Philadelphia. The ride was all to raise awareness for Basalyga’s program “In The Saddle,” which provides a cycling community for people recovering from drug or alcohol addiction.
