Hazleton Area used a big nine run 3’rd inning to sink Scranton 10-0 in D2 ‘AAAA’ baseball action.  Dante Biasi tossed a five inning no-hitter for the win.

Joe Gavio has his Hazleton Area Lady Cougars playing excellent ball in the tough Wyoming Valley Conference.  Crestwood is coming off a loss to Pittston Area and we looking to bounce back at home against their rivals from Crestwood.  Lady Cougars 27 points from Mackenzie Yori to crush the Comets 64-39.

Wilkes vs King’s Men’s college basketball

The River Street rivals King’s and Wilkes hooked up in men’s basketball at the Marts Center.  The Colonels hung on to win 59-54 to improve to 4-3 in the MAC Freedom Division.

Holy Redeemer vs Wyoming Seminary Girl’s Basketball

Holy Redeemer Senior Alexis Lewis needed 16 points to reach 2,000 points for her career.  The forward made the magic mark by the time the first half was over in the Lady Royals win. The senior who is headed to Iona in the fall helped her team to a 68-27 win on Thursday night.

The Pittston Area Lady Patriots ran their record to 12-1 with a big road win at Hazleton Area Monday night.  Steve Lloyd says Head Coach Kathy Healey might have another ‘Title Team’ on her hands.

Holy Redeemer @ MMI

Holy Redeemer Sr. Alexis Lewis began the week within shooting distance of 2,000 points.  Lewis needed 54 points to reach that plateau as the week started at MMI.   Lewis scored 38 points in the lop-sided win.
