Man Accused of Shooting Father in the Chest in Wayne County

LAKE TOWNSHIP — A man is in jail after allegedly shooting his father in the chest late Saturday night in Wayne County. It happened in Lake Township, not far from Hawley. Police say Jacob Silfies, 22, is charged with assault. His father, Edward Silfies, 44, is in a hospital in Scranton with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police have not said why son allegedly shot his father in Wayne County.

DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP — A community service project in Wayne County is making sure veterans stationed overseas and here at home have everything they need for the holidays. MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP — Kids could get pictures taken with Santa for free in Wayne County on Saturday. Santa Claus stopped by The Christmas Village at the American Legion in Pleasant Mount. Kids told Santa what they wanted for Christmas and then got their pictures taken. Then they could pose for pictures with some cardboard cutouts. There were also jewelry and other items up for sale at the event in Wayne County.

Body Found in Wayne County Identified

SALEM TOWNSHIP — Investigators have identified a body found near a wooded area in Wayne County. State police identified the victim as Jerry Patrick Bruno, 53. Two hunters discovered Bruno’s body near Goose Pond Road in Salem Township on Thursday. How Bruno died is still under investigation.

Exotic Animals Killed and Taken from Private Land

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP — The search is on for whoever shot and killed some rare and exotic animals at a ranch in Wayne County.
